Those birthdays, graduations and all those family moments are sitting on your hard drive. Files that beg to become real digital memories for you to view and share.

Sure, you could comb through and edit all this footage yourself and create a quick slideshow.

Time for some action: Step into the shot!

In my Event Videography days, my comfort zone was naturally behind the camera, not just during gigs but also at home. My old family videos has some of the best lighting, audio and great shots of hubby and the kids. But you know what it doesn’t have?

You guessed it…no footage of MOM!

Sure you can hear my voice and laughter…but my grands and great-grands won’t ever see me in those shots or vacation videos. I can hear them ask: “Where’s grandmom? Why can’t I see her? Oh, she’s behind the camera dear”.

Your hair, clothes–age or weight…none of that matters. Trust me, your family will always wish they could actually see you interacting with them.

Life is short. Learn from my experience. Step away from your comfort zone and be part of the action. Your hair, clothes–age or weight…none of that matters. Trust me, your family will always wish they could actually see you interacting with them.

So go get goofy–act silly–hug, squeeze and do family stuff. None of those other excuses will matter years from now.

Selfies tell the best stories right? Well…sometimes

Great selfies can tell your followers how fun & exciting your vacation was. In some cases they can even make us appear bigger than life. The best social influencers know the value of the perfect selfie.

But what about when you’re ready to edit your vacation footage to share with your loved ones? I guarantee you…footage and clips of non-stop selfies in video form can look a little-well–like instagram.

It will still show how amazing your trip was…but it’s missing something special folks…interaction.

Social Media craves selfies—Video Stories crave interaction.

Even the best selfie can’t compete with wet feet running through the sand or watching as the wind takes your beach hat, curls swirling, arms extended wide. (which btw would make for a great slo-mo effect!)

Video stories crave live interaction with one another and your environment. Oh yeah and of course…a few selfies to mix it all up! :0

So don’t forget to switch your selfie mode to video every now and then. You never know when you’ll want to create a great “offline” visual expereience.
